Deborah Gesin, LPC-S

Licensed Professional Counselor

I want everyone to have a chance to live a joyful life!

We all need a respectful, listening ear from time to time as we deal with the challenges that life brings to each of us.  Whether you need help managing a tough situation, support dealing with a serious crisis, or would just like to figure out how to more successfully achieve your goals and dreams, I'd like to offer my assistance. I have over 40 years experience in the field of counseling, and I am one of those fortunate individuals who loves what they do.  It's very rewarding to see people I work with live a more fulfilling, happier life.

I also believe therapy is more than just the client talking.  My philosophy is therapy should include building a greater awareness and understanding of yourself, combined with practical strategies for meaningful change. I use a combination of various modalities of therapeutic interventions including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Schema Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Family Systems, Reality Therapy, Solution Focused, Psychoeducation, and Parent Child Interaction Therapy.

I have had a wide range of experiences and education throughout my career. I completed my undergraduate work at Northeastern Oklahoma State University and my graduate work at both Northeastern and Oklahoma State University.  I also completed the coursework in the psychometry program and have experience working extensively with individuals with ADHD.

I have additional trainings and/or certifications in the following areas: Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP), Prepare & Enrich, (a premarital and marriage enrichment program), Gottman Marriage Therapy, Parenting Naturally, Practical Parenting, Nurturing parent, and Parent Child Interactive Therapy( PCIT), Mediation, Domestic Violence Mediation, Brain Injury, Adoptions-Home Study and Family assessment, Anger Management, and Helping Women Recover.

I also worked for over twenty years for the Oklahoma State Department of Health in the field of Epidemiology, specifically within the HIV/AIDS Program and have extensive experience in the LGBTQ community.

I have had experience working with many populations and individuals from ages 2 to 82. I enjoy working with families, couples, and individuals who need support and guidance to live their best life.

When not working, I am an avid reader, curious traveler, and ardent Country Western music fan!
